The premiere of “Doctor Odyssey” attracts almost 14 million viewers

EXCLUSIVE: Doctor OdysseyThe maiden voyage seems to be going well.

According to Disney, Ryan Murphy’s latest procedural debuted on ABC last week and the premiere episode has already reached 13.6 million viewers across platforms in its first week. That’s an impressive 230% increase over the episode’s live + same-day viewership of 4.13 million.

This is a monster start for Doctor Odyssey. While most television series’ viewership grows significantly in the week after they air, once the episodes are available on streaming, it’s pretty rare for an episode to reach an average of 10 million viewers in that time frame – let alone directly goes beyond that.

Within three days of airing, the cruise drama had already reached 7.59 million viewers, making it the best ABC drama premiere in four years, according to Disney. And after its first full day on Hulu, it debuted at No. 1 on the streamer’s Top 15 Today list and has remained there ever since.

Murphy, who has six series premieres across four networks in the past two weeks, is off to a great start to the fall season with his first-responder drama on ABC 9-1-1 also returned to air last week.

This premiere, which kicked off an epic Bee-Nado story, reached up to 8.27 million viewers across all platforms in the first three days, up from 6.21 million on the same day. 9-1-1 remains one of the most popular shows on network television.

Doctor Odyssey The script and executive producers are by Murphy, Jackson, Johnson, Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken. Paris Barclay is the director and executive producer. Eric Paquette, Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson and Nissa Diederich also executive produce. The series stars Joshua Jackson, Don Johnson, Phillipa Soo and Sean Teale.

New episodes of Doctor Odyssey And 9-1-1 airs Thursday nights on ABC.
