Eminem learns he’s a grandpa in the “Temporary” music video

The rapper’s tribute clip to his daughter Hailie Jade Mathers is full of old and new home videos

Eminem has released a new music video for his song “Temporary,” which is full of old home videos but also a few new ones, including a clip in which the rapper finds out he’s going to be a grandfather.

“Temporary,” featuring Skylar Gray, is Em’s heartfelt tribute to his daughter Hailie Jade Mathers. The clip is mostly made up of old footage of the father and daughter from the late ’90s and early 2000s, when Eminem’s star was rising. There are some recent clips, including footage from Hailie’s wedding, as well as an incredibly endearing moment when she gives her dad a Detroit Lions jersey with “Grandpa” written on the back.

“Temporary” appears on Eminem’s latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace)which was released back in July. Last month, he released an expanded version of the album with a new sketch and three additional tracks, including a new version of the song “Fuel” and the track “Kyrie and Luka” featuring 2 Chainz.

On trend

Eminem started the rollout The death of Slim Shady Earlier this year, he launched a campaign centered – as the album’s title suggests – on the death of his Slim Shady alter ego. For example, he published a false obituary for Slim in the Detroit Free Pressmourns the character’s “tortured existence.” And at the end of the music video for “Tobey” (which also featured fellow Detroit rappers Big Sean and BabyTron), he also took a chainsaw to his alter ego.

Eminem has also shared music videos for The death of Slim Shady Lead single “Houdini” as well as “Somebody Save Me,” his collaboration with Jelly Roll. Em also performed both songs at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards.
