Sheridan Smith and Joanne Froggatt host the fictional true crime podcast The Margate Murders

Sheridan Smith and Joanne Froggatt star in a brand new fictional true crime podcast, now available to listen on Audible.

The series, titled The Margate Murders, is set in the titular seaside town and stars Smith and Froggatt in the role of a former police officer and editor of the local newspaper, both of whom witnessed a decades-long series of crimes.

According to Audible, despite the fact that the series is fictional, listeners are likely to “confuse it with a true crime podcast,” in part because it largely takes the form of improvised conversations between the actors.

“Sheridan, Joanne and the entire cast were provided with scripts and sets, and from then on it was up to them to improvise in their characters’ minds,” a press release said.

In addition to Smith and Froggatt, the drama also features the voices of a number of other participants, including a survivor, a suspect, a detective and a forensic psychologist, all recounting what happened from their perspective.
