Davante Adams’ top destinations are reportedly the Jets and Saints: Could he play with Aaron Rodgers again?

The relationship between Davante Adams and the Las Vegas Raiders didn’t work out, and now the wide receiver would reportedly prefer to be traded. But where? A new report revealed that Adams’ top landing spots are places with familiar faces.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Adams would rather play for the New York Jets or New Orleans Saints because he is familiar with their quarterbacks: Aaron Rodgers with the Jets and Derek Carr with the Saints.

Adams spent eight seasons catching passes from Rodgers when both played with the Green Bay Packers. They became a dynamic duo on the field, and Rodgers continues to speak positively about Adams whenever he gets the chance.

As for the Saints, Adams knows Carr well. The two played together at Fresno State and playing with Carr again is reportedly one of the reasons Adams agreed to the blockbuster transfer that took him from Green Bay to Las Vegas in 2022. But the two were only allowed to spend one season together before the Raiders broke up and fired Carr after a 6-11 season.

The Saints have another employee who could tip the scales in their favor: their wide receivers coach Keith Williams. According to Schefter, Williams has worked with Adams as his personal wide receivers coach and even referred to Williams as his mentor.

Of the two teams, the Jets make the most sense for Adams and the Raiders. That’s where he would fit in best and doesn’t have to worry about getting the ball as his good friend Rodgers is there to feed him. Beyond that, Rodgers needs a partner in New York who will help him reach his full potential, someone he trusts, someone who knows him well and someone he’s comfortable throwing the ball to over and over again. This is Adams to the fullest. The Jets also have significant salary cap space ($15.3 million), while the Saints do not ($2.3 million).

Adams is also not expected to play in the Raiders’ game against the Broncos on Sunday due to a hamstring injury. Although it’s reportedly a real injury – according to The Athletic’s Diana Russini, it could sideline him for up to two weeks – given his desire to leave Las Vegas, it shouldn’t be too surprising that Adams isn’t playing.

A trade seems to be the most likely outcome of this breakup, but the timeline is unclear so far. Will we see him with the Jets soon or is he destined to be part of another team?
