Lush Carpets of Green Everywhere You Look
Unlike coffee, Uganda has a good trade with it’s tea. Widely grown in the rain forest areas, including Fort Portal, it is like lush carpets of green everywhere you look.
When we lived in Uganda, my mom’s sister and husband owned a few of the tea plantations but were forced to give it all up with the expulsion by Idi Amin. Now most of the tea plantations in the area are owned by one family. It was beautiful and at the same time a sad reminder of the past that occurred.
Tea in Uganda is exported across Africa and is one of the top exports of Uganda, others being cotton, copper and Tilapia fish.
You will see many lush carpets of green on our photo-tour of Uganda.
